Even in the dead of winter, there are discoveries to be made everywhere. Sometimes even in your own backyard. Discoveries that appear on pathways that you have travelled so many times. Look around. You might find something in places you never thought you would find them.

Fire and Ice Event in Sturgeon Bay on Valentine's weekend. It was great fun filled with ice and snow sculptures, walking through the city, people watching, spending time with awesome friends, a great dinner and dancing....and lighthouse searching. A getaway weekend well worth it!!!

Looking Through

Have I mentioned that one of my favorite things is taking pictures 'through things'? Have I mentioned that one of my favorite things is wide apertures? Have I mentioned that moments like this....make some winter days....worth the cooped up moments?

To Hike...or Not

I can't imagine being at a point where I couldn't walk....couldn't hike off into the woods....on a snow laden, winter day...or any day throughout the year, for health reasons.

To not be able to enjoy the crunch of the ground, snow laden or not.

To not be able to discover the simplicity of a sumac spent blossom in its rosy winter color. (Wide aperture wonders.)

To not have the opportunity to 'stumble' across the quaint, hidden treasures of the forest pathways. (Remember ....don't look just straight ahead. You never know what you will miss.)

I can't imagine not being able to enjoy the world of wilderness.

I hope....I won't ever have to. Experience it.

The View

Sometimes...the same view point....seems like the same shot....over and over and over...

Change it up a bit. Take the shot from a different viewpoint. Get down to the same level...or just below....of the subject. Focus on something totally unexpected. Or better yet....

Make the subject...something totally off the wall...or ...off the floor....depending on who you are.
